Gluten Sensitivity

Gluten-free Halloween Candy - Each year on Halloween our little goblins and ghosts, or perhaps in today’s world, Spongebob and Jo Jo the Clown, head out into the cool crisp late October night to retrieve the world’s biggest bounty of candy that could possibly fit into a bucket or heaven forbid a pillow case! It used to be the biggest concern to go through all the candy before the children ravaged through it all to check to make sure it hadn’t been tampered with. Now with a child with Celiac it is imperative to not only check for candy that has been poisoned….but inadvertently poisoned with gluten! Over the years we have collected lists of “safe” candy that we thought we’d share with our subscribers to be used as a handy reference this Halloween. Please note: it is always a good idea to check with the manufacturers to make sure that their manufacturing process or their ingredients have not changed since this information was obtained.

Heart Disease

PolyMeal - fact or fiction? - Following the controversial idea of the so-called Polypill in 2003, Franco et al. have recently proposed an alternative: the Polymeal. Again, the aim is to reduce cardiovascular disease at the population level, but by use of a specific diet rather than pharmacologic interventions.
Eat a complete meal to reduce heart disease: the PolyMeal - Although the Polypill concept (proposed in 2003) is promising in terms of benefits for cardiovascular risk management, the potential costs and adverse effects are its main pitfalls. The objective of this study was to identify a tastier and safer alternative to the Polypill: the Polymeal.
Fish Oils & prevention of CVD - The UK has one of the highest CVD rates in Western Europe, with over one-third of deaths attributable to this condition. This article looks at how several of the risk factors for CVD, including some newly-identified ones, may be reduced by dietary interventions.
Conventional risk factors show CVD - or not? - Prinzmetal's variant angina, primarily a vasospastic disease, is a glaring example of the gaps in our knowledge regarding the etiology of coronary heart disease. Half of all patients with coronary heart disease do not have any of the established coronary risk factors.
C-Reactive protein: good screen for CV disease - More than 20 years ago, 246 risk factors for coronary heart disease (CHD) had already been identified, and the number continues to grow.1 Advances in genomics and proteomics will provide even more candidate markers to consider for routine assessment in practice. Risk stratification is important because information about the probability of a cardiovascular event in the future can help target therapy and resources to those most likely to benefit.
More about CRP (C-Reactive Protein) - C-reactive protein is a valid marker of cardiovascular risk. It is not known whether C-reactive protein is a marker of atherosclerotic burden or whether it reflects a process (e.g. inflammatory fibrous cap degradation) leading to acute coronary events. This study was performed to determine whetherthe concentration of C-reactive protein is associated with coronary atherosclerosis assessed by coronary angiography.

Immune System

Boost Your Immune System Naturally - GS Immuno PRP is a bovine colostrum-based natural immune building spray. It contains Proline-Rich-Polypeptides (PRPs) which help to modulate normal immune responses. PRPs are tiny information carrying proteins with amazing adaptability.
Introducing Micellized Vitamin D3 Water Soluble 600 I.U. per drop - ...Blue hydrophillic "heads of micelles" grouped towards the outside of the ball while little hydrophobic "tails" which are oil-like, group inside the ball "away" from the solution. Because of the molecular nature of the micellar structure, micellization can solubilize fat-soluble compounds inside the ball and increase solubility and absorbtion of the compounds in the double layer dramatically...
MICELLIZED VITAMIN D3 - A recent double blind study by The Great Plains Laboratory, Inc. showed Micellized D3 had approximately 5 times greater increase in serum 25(OH) Vitamin D levels versus emulsified vitamin D. Micellized D3 is far superior in reaching and maintaining optimal levels of vitamin D3 over other forms of Vitamin D.
BUILDING IMMUNITY AND THE ‘SWINE FLU’ - This last winter the stories on ‘Swine Flu’ and the potential lethal nature of this virus were in the news most every day. Government agencies around the world were feverishly working to understand the nature of this virus and how to protect us from exposure, or if we were exposed how to minimize how sick we’d get. No
question it is coming. The only question is when and how hard will it hit.
