When measuring antibodies to identify an immune reaction, one important factor is to determine IF the immunoglobulin mechanism is working adequately in your body. It often may not.
A total Immunoglobulin (IgG, IgA and IgM) Test can be done to measure the level of each category of immunoglobulins. Cyrex Array #5 measures an Immunoglobulin response attacking our own tissue (an auto-immune mechanism). Remember when the 'Big Guns' of your immune system are called into action, there are different branches that may respond (e.g., Total IgA for Marines, Total IgG for the Army, Total IgM for the Air Force, etc.). When we test to see if one of the Branches has been called out (e.g., an IgA response) we make the assumption the “Marines” are well-funded and well-equipped to respond.
Immunoglobulin deficiency means that you are not producing adequate levels of antibodies to that branch of the “Armed Forces”. If the “Marines” have been deployed to many different locations at the same time, if they've been overtaxed and underfunded, their numbers may not be adequate to respond to the stress (the invader). Thus a test of the Marines (e.g., Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies IgA on Array 5) may come back negative due to immunodeficiency or immunosuppression. There is a problem, but the immune system cannot identify it or respond appropriately.

We recommend this panel to anyone concerned about: • the competence of their immunoglobulin response mechanism, “Is it compromised, suppressed, or just plain ‘worn out’?” • their immunoglobulin production. • their Cyrex panel results due to multiple antibody markers that are below normal (e.g., <0.5). • confirming that Cyrex test results are not showing a ‘false negative’ due to poor immunoglobulin response capabilities. Any of the above could interfere with the accuracy of Cyrex test results identifying the state of your immune response. Total immunoglobulin testing can help to identify immunodeficiency and/or immunosuppression. A person can be born with an immunodeficiency or acquire it through: infection repeated antibiotic use steroid use (including steroid inhalers) disease malnutrition burns long-term, low-level demands increased immunoglobulin response as a side effect of different pharmaceuticals that can suppress the immune system An immunodeficiency could cause your test results to be inaccurate, giving a false negative. If you are concerned that you may not be producing adequate levels of antibodies, we recommend that you order this test before ordering your Cyrex Array/s. Or if your Cyrex results have come back and you just don’t believe the negative test results, a Total Immunoglobulin test for IgA, IgG and IgM will tell you if your immune system is responding normally or not.
